Every year, we deliver high-quality counselling and therapeutic services to thousands of clients, making it possible for more people to make informed, realistic choices about love, sex and relationships.

Relate sits within Family Action, a national charity that has supported people through change, challenge and crisis for 150 years.

We are now looking for three Clinical Supervisors to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working 20 hours per week.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced relationship therapist with significant couples counselling and sex therapy expertise, alongside supervision experience, to join our compassionate organisation.

You’ll have the chance to use your clinical experience to support other practitioners at the highest level, creating a wider ripple effect as you help ensure more individuals, couples and families receive thoughtful, high-quality care when they need it most.

The Role

As a Clinical Supervisor, you will support and manage Relate practitioners, enabling them to provide safe, ethical and high-quality relationship therapy.

Delivering individual and group supervision, you will help practitioners reflect on their work, develop professionally and manage complex or high-risk cases.

You will also provide guidance on safeguarding and risk management, escalating concerns where appropriate and promoting a strong culture of client safety and professional accountability.

Additionally, you will:

  • Review and audit counsellor case notes
  • Maintain accurate and confidential supervision records
  • Support counsellor performance and development reviews
  • Contribute to audits, service evaluations and quality reviews

About You

To be considered as a Clinical Supervisor, you will need:

  • Significant post-qualification counselling experience in couples counselling and sex therapy with demonstrable experience providing supervision and/or oversight of clinicians’ caseloads
  • Experience of working with individuals, couples and families therapeutically where complexities present
  • Experience of working within a psychodynamic and systems approach with individuals, couples and families
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures relevant to therapeutic services
  • Confidence using data, insight, evaluation and theoretical knowledge to drive clinical practice
  • An understanding of quality assurance frameworks and their application in clinical or therapeutic settings
  • A Level 5/Column B or above qualification in Relationship Therapy from Relate or equivalent training providers
  • A qualification in Counselling Supervision from Relate or equivalent external training providers
  • Registration as an accredited and full clinical member with an appropriate professional body organisation relevant to sector/therapy modality

Appointments are subject to satisfactory Safer Recruitment checks, including a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, where appropriate to the role.
