The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Support Worker to join the Hospital at Night Team within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. This unique role offers the chance to work across a variety of acute specialties, providing essential clinical and non-clinical support to patients and multidisciplinary teams during out-of-hours periods. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective and person-centred care while supporting the smooth running of hospital services overnight.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- Part-time, Permanent
- Location: You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
- Working Pattern: 20:00pm - 07:00am
- Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake a range of clinical procedures including venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording and patient observations
- Support the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care across a variety of specialties
- Monitor patient conditions and promptly escalate any concerns to the Hospital at Night Team and clinical staff
- Assist with specimen collection, diagnostic testing and the safe transportation of equipment, medications and patient records
- Maintain accurate patient documentation including observation charts, fluid balance records and assessment tools
- Provide practical and clinical support to nursing, medical and allied health professionals
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers and colleagues to ensure safe and coordinated care

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent qualification
- Healthcare Support Worker training, SVQ qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant healthcare setting
- Highly competent in venepuncture, cannulation and ECG recording
- Significant experience delivering direct patient care within a healthcare environment
- Sound knowledge of basic patient care and the ability to recognise and respond to deteriorating patients
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently and flexibly, with night shift working forming an essential part of the role
