About The Organisation

NHS Lanarkshire is comprised of Acute Services (which currently provide hospital based services over 3 main sites), Corporate & Property & Support Services, North and South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Partnerships which provide integrated primary healthcare and social care services to local communities and surrounding areas.

The Role

Undertake care duties for patients in support of and delegated by the Registered Nurse, within a hospital or community setting. The post-holder will require to work without direct supervision on a regular basis, referring to the registered nurse as required.

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.

In This Key Role, You Will

  • Delivers direct patient care including physical, emotional, psychological and personal care within an inpatient or community setting in accordance with the agreed care plan.
  • Participate in delivering social, therapeutic and recreational activities as identified within care plan.
  • Respect at all times the confidential nature of your work and the rights and choices of patients and their carers in regard to confidentiality, ensuring patients are aware that certain information may have to be shared with other members of the clinical team or other authorities where there is concern for the health, safety or welfare of the patient or others, in accordance with guidance and protocols of the Lanarkshire Data Sharing Partnership.
  • Act in a way that is consistent with NHS Lanarkshire guiding values and uphold and enhance the good standing of the service.

What You'll Bring

  • SVQ III in healthcare, or working towards, or equivalent experience working within a caring environment/role.
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary/agency team.
  • Ability to carry out assigned patient care tasks effectively within a busy environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
  • A driving licence is required; this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
