About The Role
Clinical Support Worker positions are available across our Dewsbury, Pinderfields and Pontefract theatres. Up to full time hours are available, with variable shift patterns dependent on site.
This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic individuals to join our clinical team within our operating theatre complex. We cover a variety of specialties including: Trauma & Orthopaedics, Emergencies, Colorectal, Upper GI, Urology, ENT, Gynaecology, Robotics and Plastics.
Working alongside nurses, operating department practitioners (ODPs), surgeons, and anaesthetists, you will help ensure our theatres run efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care, dignity, and safety.
Main Duties
As a Clinical Support Worker, You Will
- Support patients before surgical procedures, ensuring they feel informed, comfortable, and reassured.
- Assist registered staff with patient preparation and positioning in accordance with theatre protocols.
- Prepare and restock theatre areas, ensuring equipment and consumables are readily available.
- Clean and maintain theatre environments between procedures, following infection prevention and control standards.
- Assist with the safe transfer of patients to and from theatre and recovery areas.
- Handle specimens, equipment, and documentation in line with local policies.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, organised, and efficient clinical environment.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Participate in mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
- Be responsible for the accurate use of the Aqua theatre management system, ensuring patient information, theatre activity, and relevant clinical data are recorded promptly and accurately.
- Maintain complete and timely theatre documentation, ensuring all records comply with Trust policies and legal, professional, and organisational standards.

Essential Person Specification Requirements
There is a list of core and additional clinical skills required for the role included in the attached job description.
Qualifications
Must have:
- Level 2 in numeracy and literacy (or equivalent)
- Completed Care Certificate accredited by e-learning for healthcare evidence of both theory and all practical elements of the skills for health 15 standards (training completed via e-learning only will not be accepted)
Plus Must Have One Of The Following
- Vocational Level 3 qualification in a Health related subject regulated by OFQUAL
- For existing Mid Yorkshire staff evidence of Band 2 competency booklet completed
- Any new employees who can evidence competency of core clinical skills, as outlined above in the CSW Band 3 JD
Experience
Experience of working in a Health and Social Care setting in a Band 2 role or equivalent
