Job Summary

Hours: We are recruiting to permanent, fixed term and bank positions. Permanent contracts are preferred, with a range of contracted hours available up to a maximum of 39 hours per week. Please state your preferred working hours within your application.

This shift based role requires flexibility to work nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Salary: £24,996.93 to £28,405.60 per annum FTE plus a 35% enhancement between 22:00 and 08:00.

As a Clinical Systems Dispatcher in our Urgent Primary Care team, you'll help ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time. You'll coordinate appointments and urgent home visits, support healthcare professionals and keep services running smoothly.

Healthcare experience is not essential. If you're confident using IT systems, enjoy helping people and can stay calm under pressure, we'd love to hear from you. Full training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

What you'll be doing

  • Coordinating patient appointments and urgent home visits
  • Monitoring incoming requests for care and ensuring they are dealt with promptly
  • Supporting healthcare professionals by managing appointment schedules
  • Keeping patients updated if there are delays
  • Responding to phone calls from healthcare partners and support services
  • Using computer systems to manage patient information and bookings
  • Helping oversee drivers and support staff during overnight shifts
  • Identifying and escalating any issues that could affect patient care
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports

You will be bringing together patients, clinicians, drivers and support services to make sure everything works smoothly.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Clinical Systems Dispatcher (CSD) sits at the heart of our Urgent Primary Care service. While clinicians focus on treating patients, this role ensures the service runs efficiently and patients receive the right support at the right time. This role brings together patients, clinicians, drivers and support services to make sure everything works smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating patient appointments and urgent home visits

  • Keeping patients updated if there are delays

  • Keep patients requiring a home visit updated on expected arrival time of the GP or nurse, escalating to the senior clinician on shift if the patients condition has changed or worsened

  • Follow business continuity plans and escalate to the Director on Call where required

  • Experience working in an administrative, coordination or scheduling role
  • Experience working in a busy environment with multiple priorities
  • Experience maintaining accurate records and data systems
  • Experience communicating with a range of stakeholders by telephone and email
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements
  • Experience coordinating appointments, bookings or service delivery
