Job Overview
An opportunity has risen for a Clinical Team Lead to work within Brent Early Intervention service (EIS). The post holder will participate and lead positively on promoting and developing a consistent, safe and high-quality service. And will actively input in the continuing development and delivery of this innovative and creative service. Excellent communication and motivation skills are essential, as is the ability to promote strong leadership. EIS has a strong track record of providing both external and internal training for our staff in line with the service development and need.
Main duties of the job
- To ensure the systematic provision of high-quality, safe, specialist, NICE concordant EIP to service users of the Early Intervention service team in the Brent catchment area.
- To provide senior practitioner level leadership in line with CNWL, Government targets and EIPT relevant NICE guidance.
- To be the lead in researching, developing and forming EIS in Brent. This will require forming close working relationships/partnership with GPs, other community mental health teams, internal and external to the trust, statutory, voluntary and inpatient services
- The individual will actively participate in developing policies, procedures, recruitment to the team and work alongside a range of colleagues to implement Trust and national service models for the provision of mental health care in Early Interventions Service.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The Early Intervention Service in Brent, works within the Community Mental Health services in Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust (CNWL). It is a service that provides early detection, assessment and intervention for 14-35 - year olds who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The service aims to provide, evidence-based treatments in order to reduce the impact of Psychosis for the individual and their families.
The EIS is commissioned to provide and facilitate access to comprehensive, evidence-based interventions to clients aged between 14-35 who are experiencing or recovering from a first episode of psychosis.
The service endeavours to engage with individuals for up to three years and will prioritise strategies to provide an environment that promotes user involvement and recovery. The EIS has close links to organisations including Primary Care, Community Mental Health Services, Children & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), and Inpatient wards, Schools.

Essential criteria
- RMN
- Professional Registration with NMC
Desirable criteria
- Certificate in Leadership and management.
- Relevant Professional qualification/training, e.g. psychosocial intervention, counselling, family therapy.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working in a mental health community setting
- Experience of working within EIS delivery model.
- Experience of working with people experiencing psychosis.
- Experience of supervising/mentoring students or junior staff.
- A team player with experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team and with multiple agencies; statutory or voluntary, or service providers on a range of patient care issues

Desirable criteria
- Experience of dual diagnosis work
- Experience of Relapse Prevention Work.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Sound knowledge of the concept, principles and practice of EIS in mental health practice.
- Knowledge of relapse prevention, psychosocial intervention and the assertive outreach model
- Possess extensive knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and Amendments (2007), Code of Practice and related legislations
- Knowledge of the Children Act 1989
- Evidence of excellent interpersonal relationship skills and appropriate diplomacy for providing care, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with service users, staff and the wider professional groups or individuals.
- Evidence of well -developed communication skills with emphasis on effective handover/communication of client concerns and the ability to interpret and disseminate protocols, policies and procedural guidelines.
- Evidence of excellent persuasive skills and the ability to motivate and engender positive attitude amongst staff.
- Demonstrate good understanding of issues around the delivery of mental health services to a diverse multi -ethnic population within an inner city/urban geographical area.
- Ability to work flexibly according to the needs of the service.
- Possess excellent negotiation skills and the ability to engage service users in a variety of creative ways.
- Time management skills and ability to organise and prioritise conflicting demands.
- Some evidence of good clinical skills/knowledge base, particularly in the areas of risk assessment, care planning, care implementation and coordination.
- Working knowledge of responsibilities under Community Care Act, 2014.
- Good Knowledge and Understanding around Safeguarding.
- Possess proven ability in the use of Microsoft packages
