Job Summary
Join Leeds Cancer Centre as a Band 6 Treatment Planning Clinical Technologist and help deliver advanced, high-quality radiotherapy care.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited for a Band 6 Treatment Planning Clinical Technologist post in Radiotherapy Physics at Leeds Cancer Centre, based at St James's University Hospital. We will consider candidates with less experience that can be employed on Annex 21. The post sits within the Treatment Planning and Mould Room service and will contribute to the planning of routine and highly complex radiotherapy treatments, routine dosimetry and quality control, and the wider safe delivery of radiotherapy services. The successful candidate will be an experienced, motivated, and clinically focused practitioner able to work as part of a strong multidisciplinary team. The role offers the opportunity to support advanced radiotherapy techniques, clinical trials, service development, and innovation within one of the largest radiotherapy centres in the UK.

The radiotherapy service in St James’s treats over 7500 new radiotherapy patients per annum. The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including 12 Versa HDs, MRSim, RayStation treatment planning, a Flexitron HDR remote afterloading platform for advanced image guided brachytherapy, I-125 prostate brachytherapy service, and Gamma Knife ICON. The managed equipment service was recently renewed, ensuring equipment replacement and comprehensive support for the next 15 years.
What You Will Bring To The Role
You will need a degree in Clinical Technology or related discipline (or equivalent level of knowledge and experience) backed up by specific training in radiotherapy treatment planning (equivalent to a post-graduate diploma in level). BSc Therapy Radiography and specific training in radiotherapy treatment planning post qualification to the same level as above.
Be a registered Clinical Technologist or Registered Therapy Radiographer or a clearly defined path to Clinical Technologist registration.
You Will Need:
- Knowledge in the operation of 3D treatment planning systems.
- Knowledge of CT simulator output and patient set up.
- Understanding of current Mould Room working practices.
- Training and practical experience in quality systems such as ISO/9001:2008.
It will be great if you have:
- Experience in the operation of complex radiotherapy technology including linear accelerators.
- Experience of working with CT simulators.
- Experience of Mould Room output.
- Auditor training.
