Overview
Shape the future at the intersection of cloud, artificial intelligence, and software development transformation. Every day, you’ll lead a high-performing team of Software Development Solution Engineers in one of Microsoft’s most strategically critical arenas, helping enterprise customers modernize their development platforms with Azure, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, GitHub Advanced Security, and AI-assisted engineering practices. This is a people leadership role at the center of the cloud and AI developer transformation wave, where your impact comes through the team you model, coach, care for, and enable.
As the Software Development Solution Engineering Manager for the United Kingdom Cloud & AI Platforms team, you champion real-world customer innovation by leading your Solution Engineering team to win technical decisions, unblock adoption, and drive measurable value across the software development lifecycle. Your team will help customers move from legacy developer platforms to secure, scalable, AI-powered engineering systems using GitHub, GitHub Copilot, Azure application platforms, DevOps, platform engineering, and modern cloud-native architecture. You’ll inspire and develop your team, help them build repeatable plays, inspect quality and execution, and maintain the developer-community credibility needed to coach effectively and earn trust with technical audiences.
This opportunity is distinguished by developer go-to-market leadership and breadth across end-to-end Cloud & AI platforms—covering GitHub, developer tools, application modernization, DevOps, security, AI apps, data, infrastructure, and the partner ecosystem—along with a unique pace of innovation and direct engagement in shaping product and go-to-market strategies. Responsibilities
- Deliver success through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring for your team—setting clear objectives, creating the conditions for great execution, developing talent, and investing in the professional growth of every member.
- Coach your team to apply advanced sales and technical validation methodologies in customer engagements, helping them connect software development and AI transformation to customer outcomes, developer productivity, secure SDLC modernization, and GitHub and Azure differentiation.
- Set the standard for developer go-to-market excellence by helping your team build crisp narratives, reusable plays, quality demos and workshops, and credible points of view for GitHub Copilot, GitHub Advanced Security, DevOps, platform engineering, cloud-native architecture, and responsible AI.
- Build credibility as a people leader and trusted advisor who understands developer communities, customer engineering leaders, and platform decision makers; proactively engage CTOs, CIOs, CISOs, VP Engineering, heads of development, and platform leaders, and coordinate strategy across Microsoft, GitHub, partner, and engineering teams.
- Maximize impact by inspecting pipeline and team execution, coaching high-quality technical close plans, ensuring demos and technical workshops are logged with rigor, resolving escalations and blockers, and helping Microsoft show up as the platform of choice for modern software development.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Business or related field AND technical pre-sales, technical consulting, solution engineering, developer platform go-to-market, people leadership, or related experience
- OR
- Technical pre-sales, technical consulting, solution engineering, developer platform go-to-market, people leadership, or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with cloud and hybrid platforms, developer platforms, application modernization, DevOps/CI/CD, platform engineering, architecture patterns, migrations, industry standards, and/or technology management.
- People management experience (including leading virtual teams), preferably with experience coaching technical teams serving developer, engineering, or platform audiences.
- Credibility with developer communities and familiarity with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Copilot, GitHub Advanced Security, Azure application platforms, DevOps, AI-assisted development tools, secure software supply chain, or modern software delivery practices.
- Demonstrated ability to model, coach, and care; grow inclusive technical teams; partner across sales, GitHub, engineering, partners, and customer technical decision makers; and translate developer strategy into measurable adoption, pipeline, and technical-decision outcomes.

Compensation
Solution Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across United Kingdom is £ 79,700.00 - £ 133,900.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
