Cloud & Generative AI Engineer

Location: London, UK
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
Salary: £120,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Bonhill Partners are currently supporting a global investment bank in their search for an AI Engineer. This is a high-impact engineering role at the intersection of cloud platforms, software development and AI, supporting the organisation's growing adoption of AI across its business lines.

The successful candidate will combine strong hands-on Azure engineering experience with robust software development and AI capabilities, helping to design and deliver secure, scalable and sustainable cloud and AI solutions within a highly regulated financial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cloud and AI-ready solutions across Azure, Oracle Cloud and AWS as the platform evolves.
  • Develop bespoke automation, integration and AI-driven components to support business requirements.
  • Build and maintain REST APIs, integration services and identity-aware solution patterns.
  • Develop reusable cloud engineering and automation frameworks.
  • Support cloud and AI workloads across both BAU and project environments.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security and business teams to deliver secure and compliant solutions.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD and modern engineering practices.
  • Implement governance controls and guardrails to support responsible and regulatory-compliant AI adoption.
  • Work with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI SDKs, GPT models, embeddings and vector workflows to develop practical AI solutions.
  • Support identity and authentication patterns using Entra ID, OAuth2 and token-based security.
  • Produce architectural designs, technical documentation and repeatable engineering patterns.
  • Help shape the organisation's evolving cloud and AI engineering strategy.

  • Strong hands-on Azure engineering experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code using Bicep, ARM and/or Terraform.
  • Strong Python development and automation skills.
  • Strong PowerShell experience.
  • Real-world experience implementing and supporting cloud platforms and identity solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, authentication and identity architecture.
  • Experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
  • Strong understanding of OAuth2, tokens and identity-driven service design.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI SDKs and/or GPT models.
  • Strong understanding of IAM, cloud security, governance and compliance.
  • Experience working within regulated or highly controlled environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation and modern DevOps practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
