Cloud Architect – Azure Infrastructure
£80,000 | Remote-first | Microsoft Azure
We’re looking for an experienced Cloud Architect to join a growing Microsoft consultancy, helping SME customers design, migrate and optimise their Azure environments.
This is a hands-on architecture role where you’ll work directly with customers from initial discovery through to solution design and delivery.
You’ll have a strong focus on Azure infrastructure, Cloud Adoption Framework, Azure Landing Zones and Infrastructure as Code.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead customer discovery sessions and technical workshops.
- Design secure, scalable and cost-effective Azure infrastructure solutions.
- Design and implement Azure Landing Zones, including networking, identity, governance, security and subscription structure.
- Apply the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework across migration, adoption and governance projects.
- Build repeatable infrastructure deployments using Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Design migration strategies for customers moving from on-premises or hybrid environments into Azure.
- Produce high-level and low-level designs, architecture documentation and implementation plans.
- Work closely with engineering teams throughout project delivery.
- Advise customers on Azure cost optimisation, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.
- Support customers in improving and evolving their Azure environments over time.

What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Strong experience designing and delivering Azure infrastructure solutions in a Cloud Architect, Infrastructure Architect or similar role.
- Deep knowledge of Azure across compute, storage, networking, identity and governance.
- Experience implementing Azure Landing Zones.
- Practical knowledge of the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Strong Azure networking knowledge, including VNets, firewalls, DNS, private endpoints and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC and privileged access management.
- Knowledge of Azure security, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience delivering cloud migrations and hybrid infrastructure projects.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

We’re looking for someone who takes a pragmatic approach to architecture - designing the right solution for the customer rather than over-engineering.
Nice to have
- Experience working for a Microsoft Partner, MSP or IT consultancy.
- Experience delivering Azure projects across multiple SME customer environments.
- Presales experience, including technical scoping, estimates and Statements of Work.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment.
- Microsoft Azure certifications, particularly Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
