Role: GCP Architect - Network Domain
Work Location: Reading, UK
Remote Work: Hybrid (12 days a month WFO)
Type of Hiring: Permanent
Experience: 15+ years overall for P2 band; 10-15 years of experience for P1
Technical Skills:
- Deep knowledge of core GCP services (e.g., GKE, Compute Engine, BigQuery, VPC, Load Balancing, IAM, etc.).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of programming or scripting languages (Python, Java, etc.).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols, security principles, and data management in a cloud context.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing solutions on the Google Cloud Platform.
- Extensive experience with telecommunications technologies, including RAN, Core, and IP Transport networks.
- Experience working within an OSS/BSS environment and a strong understanding of telecom operational processes (fault management, performance management, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture Design & Planning: Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable cloud architectures for various OSS components, including network inventory, fault management, performance management, and service assurance systems, using core GCP services (e.g., Compute Engine, GKE, BigQuery, Pub/Sub).
- Cloud Migration Strategy: Plan and lead the migration of existing on-premises or legacy OSS applications and workloads to the Google Cloud Platform, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss.
- Security and Compliance: Implement robust security measures, including Identity and Access Management (IAM), data encryption, and network security design principles (segmentation, logging, etc.), ensuring compliance with telecom industry standards and regulations.
- Performance and Cost Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, and security, leveraging tools like Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging.
- Integration and Automation: Ensure seamless integration between various OSS/BSS (Business Support Systems) components and other third-party applications. Develop automation and use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform for efficient deployment and management of the cloud environment.
- Collaboration and Guidance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (developers, DevOps engineers, business leaders, vendors) to translate complex business and technical requirements into effective cloud solutions, providing technical leadership and guidance on GCP best practices.
- Disaster Recovery: Design and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans, leveraging multi-region deployment for resilience.
- Innovation: Stay updated with the latest GCP services and emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, serverless computing) and recommend innovative solutions for business use.
