We are currently recruiting for an experienced Cloud Architect & DevOps Lead with deep experience in AWS and Azure to lead cloud initiatives, optimize infrastructure and mentor team members across Centrica Energy. The role holder will design and manage complex cloud architectures, implement best DevOps practices and contribute to building a robust and scalable infrastructure for Centrica Energy applications.
We embrace ‘flexible first’ as our guiding principle for flexible and hybrid working, which balances work, the team, and the individual need for flexibility. This role is based out of our London office, close to Marble Arch, with the team typically coming in 3 days per week. #LI-CET
Here’s what we need you to do:

Cloud Architecture Design and Implementation
- Design and maintain multi-cloud solutions using AWS and Azure services
- Architect scalable, secure and cost-optimized infrastructure
- Evaluate and integrate emerging cloud technologies.

Advanced CI/CD Practices
- Implement advanced CI/CD pipelines for complex application deployments
- Leverage tools like Azure DevOps, AWS Code Pipeline
- Integrate testing, monitoring, and rollback mechanisms in pipelines.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Create and manage IaC using tools like AWS CloudFormation, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM)
- Automate environment provisioning for development, testing, and production.

Monitoring, Logging, and Incident Management
- Set up advanced monitoring and alerting solutions using tools like AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor
- Define strategies for incident response and conduct root cause analysis.

Security and Compliance
- Develop and enforce security practices, including IAM policies, encryption, and compliance with standards defined by Centrica
- Conduct periodic security reviews and audits.

Leadership and Mentoring
- Lead DevOps practices across teams and provide guidance to junior engineers
- Establish and enforce DevOps standards, best practices, and processes.

Cost Management and Optimization
- Analyse cloud costs and implement strategies for cost optimisation
- Recommend and enforce policies for efficient resource utilisation.

Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, QA, and operations, to ensure alignment with business goals
- Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Provide P1/P2 support for critical Infrastructure.
What we’re looking for:
- Significant experience in cloud architecture and DevOps engineering within a Commodity Trading, Investment Banking or Financial Services environment
- Proven leadership experience within a DevOps and / or cloud infrastructure role
- Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, Kubernetes Certified Administrator (CKA), DevOps Engineer Professional)
- Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience: Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
- Cloud Expertise: deep experience in AWS, Azure
- DevOps Tools experience: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
