Cloud Architect
Leeds / Hybrid-Flexible | Upto £80,000 + Bonus
We’re working with a large, global organisation looking for a Cloud Architect to join its established architecture function and help shape the next phase of its cloud and platform strategy.
This isn’t a hands-on engineering role or a position focused purely on producing technical designs. You’ll sit between Architecture and Platform Engineering, helping define the “what” and “why” behind technology decisions and providing teams with the patterns, guardrails and architectural direction to deliver them.
What you’ll be doing
- Shape cloud and platform architecture across a complex, global technology estate.
- Define reusable architectural patterns, standards and guardrails.
- Build strategic technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Work closely with Platform Managers and Engineers to translate architectural direction into delivery.
- Produce options and recommendations around technology, suppliers and architectural approaches, balancing business value, risk and cost.
- Help shape areas including Azure, identity, Zero Trust, platform engineering, integrations, data and AI.
- Support global architecture decisions around tenants, data sharing, resilience and integration.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to understand business objectives and ensure technology decisions support them.

What we’re looking for
- Strong experience within Cloud or Enterprise Architecture.
- Solid knowledge of Azure architecture, including landing zones, tenants and subscriptions.
- Good understanding of Identity and Zero Trust architecture.
- Exposure to Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
- Experience creating architecture patterns, guardrails and technology roadmaps.
- Broad technical knowledge with the ability to operate at an enterprise level rather than getting lost in low-level design.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to constructively challenge existing thinking.
- Pragmatic, autonomous and focused on enabling teams rather than creating unnecessary governance.

Experience across Databricks, enterprise data platforms, APIs/integration, Governance as Code or AI technologies would be particularly useful.
