Cloud Billing is one of the fastest-growing and most exciting areas of Softcat's Finance function. As more customers adopt consumption-based cloud services, our billing capabilities must continue to evolve to deliver accurate, scalable and automated solutions that support exceptional customer experiences and business growth.

We're looking for a Cloud Billing Deputy Operations Manager to play a key leadership role within our Cloud Billing team. Working at the intersection of Finance, Technology and Data, you'll help ensure our billing operations remain accurate, resilient and customer-focused while leading a team of talented analysts and driving continuous improvement across the function.

As a Cloud Billing Deputy Operations Manager, you'll:

  • Lead the day-to-day operational delivery of Cloud Billing services, ensuring billing activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Act as deputy to the Cloud Billing Manager, supporting operational leadership and decision-making across the function.
  • Oversee complex and high-volume billing cycles, ensuring effective planning, governance and execution.
  • Lead, coach and develop Cloud Billing Analysts to build a high-performing and engaged team.
  • Monitor operational performance, KPIs, workload and service quality to ensure exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Act as the escalation point for complex billing and service issues, driving timely and sustainable resolutions.
  • Maintain strong operational controls, governance processes and risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Technology, Sales, Customer Operations and Vendor Alliance teams to improve processes and deliver operational excellence.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimisation, automation and continuous improvement.
  • Support audit activities, system changes and transformational initiatives across the Cloud Billing function.

We'd love you to have

Essential skills and experience:

  • Significant experience working within Cloud, Finance, Technology, Telecommunications, Managed Services or another complex billing environment.
  • Proven experience managing operational teams and leading high-volume billing processes.
  • Strong understanding of billing controls, reconciliations, governance and operational risk.
  • Experience working with enterprise billing systems and complex operational data.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyse and interpret large data sets.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience coaching, developing and motivating team members.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.

We would be particularly excited if you also have:

  • Experience working with cloud consumption or recurring billing models.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft, AWS or Adobe billing.
  • Experience using Oracle NetSuite.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale business change or operational transformation initiatives.
