Devops Engineer
Hybrid working, London/Edinburgh
We’re seeking an amazing and experienced Cloud Devops Engineer (GCP preferred) with strong technical, tactical, and research oriented skills to join our customer-obsessed product team.
You will help us maximise the use of the cloud and our on-cloud selected technologies, to build a high performance data landscape across non production and production. You'll be part of a small but very capable and focused team and you will be responsible for ensuring all engineers adhere to the landscape standards and principles.
One of your prime concerns will be cost management and compute and data excellence - having the correct monitoring and insights into processing in the cloud will be a must. Your experience will help inspire and shape how we build our cloud landscape, so the company can continue to make sense of massive data assets, and tell great stories to customers.
You’ll work closely with the engineering and technical management to ensure that the landscape works effectively for the business’s needs, also helping coordinate and advise on devops practice into the teams themselves. We see devops as being at the heart of Blis’ ability to grow efficiently. With an informal culture that rewards curiosity, you’ll have exposure and opportunities to involve yourself with projects and teams across the organisation.
This is a full-time position based in the United Kingdom. We’ve embraced flexible working and expect this to continue indefinitely, but occasional team or client meetings will be required in either London or Edinburgh. We expect this to be on the order of once a month or less.
The Role
- Responsible for efficient development operations that can balance service reliability and delivery speed. You will maintain skill in Blis preferred cloud to build software delivery pipelines, deploy and monitor services, and manage and learn from incidents.
- Work with engineering to agree patterns and practice that can be embedded in appropriate controls to ensure that anything that goes into the cloud is fit for purpose and appropriately marked up for effective management. Identify all cloud inefficiencies by building a backlog that can be discussed and prioritised with the wider engineering community and tech management.
- Help with the overall maturity of cloud engineering within Blis by presenting concepts, ideas and new working practice at the various x-team and all hands meetings already in play.
- Automate, automate, automate - the target would ideally be - no human hands in cloud.
- Provide support across all cloud incidents within your domain of responsibility
- Put in place mechanism that will allow the collection of data to communicate on the cost and efficiencies across all processes so that it can be reported up to the executive level
- Commitment to Blis' Inclusion initiatives & 5 step sustainability plan.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
