About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Cloud Engineer to join our platform team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and maintaining secure, scalable cloud infrastructure across multiple cloud providers including Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Microsoft Azure. Your expertise will help us streamline cloud workloads, enhance our ML‑Ops and data solutions, and ensure compliance with stringent cybersecurity standards. As a senior member of the team, you will serve as a technical leader, mentor junior engineers, and shape the architectural roadmap for our cloud and developer experience initiatives. Your work will directly impact our ability to deploy innovative solutions rapidly and securely, supporting Gigaton’s mission to make a meaningful environmental difference.

Qualifications
- Extensive experience with AWS and GCP cloud platforms, with bonus points for experience in both.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking architecture and security best practices.
- Proficiency in Python programming language.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code management.
- Proven track record designing and managing CI/CD pipelines for frequent, reliable releases.
- Solid understanding of agile development methodologies, including pair programming, mobbing, and TDD.
- Experience working in complex, industrial, or IoT environments is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
- Ability to work independently, handle ambiguity, and own projects from discovery to delivery.
Responsibilities
- Own and enhance key platform components across AWS and GCP, ensuring scalable and secure architecture.
- Deploy and operate workloads within customer cloud environments, collaborating with client IT and infrastructure teams to meet specific requirements.
- Lead architectural decisions, creating clear roadmaps that support rapid development and deployment cycles.
- Mentor and support junior team members, fostering their growth and adherence to best practices in software engineering.
- Identify, propose, and implement improvements to existing systems and pipelines to increase efficiency and security.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and best practices across all cloud deployments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions with AI and manufacturing systems.
