Cloud Engineer (Contract)

A growing insurance company is seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer to support the design, build and optimisation of its Microsoft Azure cloud platform. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering cloud infrastructure, landing zones, automation and security best practices across a complex enterprise environment.

Essential Skills

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure
  • Proven experience delivering Azure Landing Zone deployments
  • Expertise across Azure services including:
    • API Management (APIM)
    • Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS)
    • Azure Networking
    • Azure Storage
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure Monitor
    • Azure Backup & Recovery
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity solutions
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, ARM or Bicep
  • Expertise in Azure governance, security and best practices
  • Experience with cloud migrations and infrastructure modernisation projects
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong understanding of networking, DNS, firewalls, load balancing and security controls
  • Experience working within regulated enterprise environments

  • Previous Insurance or Financial Services experience
  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Defender and Sentinel
  • Experience implementing Zero Trust security principles
  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning
  • Multi-cloud exposure (AWS/GCP)
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications

Additional Details

  • Rate: Up to £700 Per Day (Inside IR35)
  • Contract Duration: Initial 3 Months
  • Location: London EC3A / WFH Hybrid
  • Start Date: ASAP (up to 4 weeks notice considered)
