About The Role
We are seeking experienced Cloud Engineers to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex cloud-native architectures, leveraging the latest AWS services and infrastructure tools. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and managing scalable, secure, and efficient cloud environments that support our clients' digital transformation initiatives. The position requires a proactive mindset, strong technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Whether you are a generalist with broad cloud experience or a specialist in certain areas, your skills will contribute significantly to our success and innovation objectives.

- Proficiency in a range of AWS services, with a keen interest in staying updated on the latest features and releases.
- Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar.
- Understanding of networking concepts and their application in software-defined networking within cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, ECS, or OpenShift.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
- AWS certifications are desirable but not mandatory; training and certification opportunities are available for committed candidates.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Designing, developing, and deploying cloud-native architectures that are scalable, secure, and resilient.
- Utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK to automate resource provisioning and management.
- Creating and managing infrastructure, ensuring best practices in design, security, and efficiency.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tailored cloud solutions.
- Developing standard implementation patterns and reusable modules to streamline deployment processes.
- Managing software configurations and source repositories, maintaining consistency and security across environments.
- Implementing and leveraging AWS security features, ensuring compliance with security standards and best practices.
- For senior-level engineers, leading teams or mentoring junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
