About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. As a Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-native architectures that meet the evolving needs of our clients. Your expertise will contribute to building secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions primarily using AWS services. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and develop innovative solutions that have a significant impact on national security and enterprise digital transformation.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cloud engineering, with hands-on experience in AWS and related technologies. Relevant qualifications include technical certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, although these are not mandatory. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK, and have experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible. A solid understanding of networking concepts, especially software-defined networking in cloud environments, is essential. Experience with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes, ECS, or OpenShift is highly desirable. Additionally, scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or Go will be beneficial. A passion for continuous learning and staying updated with the latest cloud innovations is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities
- Designing and building cloud-native architectures that are robust, secure, and scalable
- Deploying and managing cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CDK, ensuring repeatability and efficiency
- Creating and maintaining infrastructure design documentation
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translating these into effective cloud solutions
- Managing software configurations, including source repositories
- Implementing security best practices by leveraging AWS security features
- Developing exemplar implementation patterns to standardize project deployment, ensuring consistency and quality across teams
- Working closely with development teams to integrate security and operational best practices into the deployment pipeline
- For senior-level engineers, leading teams or mentoring junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
