The role

This role is within the central Cloud Engineering team and focusses on our backup capability using Rubrik. You would contribute to the design and delivery of services delivered within SSE, primarily in the backup/data protection space across various IaaS and PaaS cloud services, but also on-premises infrastructure, but also have the opportunity to get involved in other cloud initiatives. The role will provide the opportunity to be part of SSE's digital transformation and migration of applications to Cloud, ensuring the platform achieves the target standards of efficiency, resilience and availability required by the organisation.

You will

  • As a team player, you will work closely with a team of strategists, architects, subject matter experts, to craft technical solutions that accelerate our business.
  • Take an SME role for our backup platform, collaborate with and provide guidance to our IT Operations partner who run the Rubrik service day to day.
  • Partner with Product owners and management to manage and clearly articulate demand planning and delivery against the projected backlog and book of work.
  • Contribute to the design and development of automation, self-service and deployment frameworks in line with industry standard cloud patterns and practices.
  • Identify and progress opportunities to drive continuous improvement across engineering, delivery, and operational practices.
  • Ensure all architecture and infrastructure accommodates the latest security and software lifecycle patterns.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
