About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, deploying, and managing cloud-native architectures across various projects. Your expertise will help us develop scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AWS services, infrastructure as code, and container orchestration, with a passion for staying updated on the latest cloud technologies. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on complex projects, lead technical initiatives, and collaborate with a diverse team of professionals dedicated to innovation and excellence.

  • Proficiency in a range of AWS services, with a demonstrated eagerness to stay current with new features and releases.
  • Experience utilizing Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts and their application in software-defined networking within cloud environments.
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, ECS, or OpenShift.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
  • AWS certifications are preferred but not mandatory; training and certification opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for a variety of technical and collaborative tasks, including:

  • Designing and implementing cloud-native architectures that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective.
  • Deploying and managing infrastructure resources using Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Creating, maintaining, and optimizing infrastructure components to support various projects.
  • Engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that align with business goals.
  • Developing exemplar implementation patterns, such as Puppet scripts or Terraform modules, to standardize deployment practices.
  • Managing software configurations, source repositories, and deployment pipelines.
  • Applying AWS security features and best practices to ensure robust security postures across cloud environments.
  • For senior roles, providing leadership by guiding teams or mentoring junior engineers to foster growth and knowledge sharing.
