About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing cloud-native architectures that support our clients' strategic objectives. Your expertise will contribute to building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud environments primarily on AWS, utilizing the latest infrastructure as code practices and configuration management tools. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and lead initiatives that shape the future of cloud technology within the organization.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with a broad range of AWS services, demonstrating a strong desire to stay current with new releases and features.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and their application within cloud environments, including software-defined networking.
- Experience working with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, or OpenShift.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Go to automate and streamline cloud operations.
- AWS certifications are preferred but not mandatory; training opportunities are available for candidates seeking certification.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop cloud-native architectures that are scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices.
- Deploy and manage cloud resources using Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or AWS CDK.
- Create, maintain, and optimize infrastructure components, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop standard implementation patterns and templates to streamline project deployment and ensure consistency.
- Manage software configuration across projects, including version control and source repositories.
- Implement and enforce security best practices by leveraging AWS security features and collaborating with development teams to embed security into the development lifecycle.
- For senior-level engineers, take on leadership responsibilities by guiding teams or mentoring junior staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
