About The Role

We are seeking a skilled AWS Cloud & Python Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between application development and cloud infrastructure management. Your primary responsibility will be to own the full lifecycle of data transformation applications, which includes writing clean, efficient Python code and designing the AWS infrastructure necessary to run these applications seamlessly. You will work closely with our existing cloud engineers to build, modernize, and deploy scalable data processing solutions that meet high-performance standards.

The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex problems and eager to leverage the latest AWS technologies. You will utilize Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to deploy cost-effective, high-performance architectures capable of handling large-scale data efficiently. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, contributing to innovative projects that have a significant impact on our clients’ data capabilities.

The position offers flexible working arrangements, including remote or hybrid options from our Exeter Head Office. Candidates not based locally are expected to attend the office every two to three weeks for team meetings and collaboration, typically for two days per visit. The role involves a standard workweek of 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

  • A strong background in Python software development with practical experience in building data transformation applications.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing AWS cloud infrastructure, including core services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS, RDS, and EC2.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, to provision and manage cloud environments.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as AWS ECS.
  • Understanding of data processing and ETL strategies, especially handling high-volume data streams.
  • Knowledge of modern DevOps practices including Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient Python applications for real-time telematics and large-scale data transformation projects.
  • Provision, manage, and scale secure AWS infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring high availability and cost-efficiency.
  • Architect solutions that optimize cost, latency, and throughput without compromising reliability or security.
  • Deploy serverless and containerized workloads utilizing AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, S3, SQS, and RDS.
  • Implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, and deploying cloud-based applications.
  • Set up performance monitoring and logging using AWS CloudWatch and X-Ray to facilitate quick issue resolution and ensure system health.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to modernize existing applications and develop new scalable data processing solutions.
  • Adhere to best practices in security, compliance, and data governance in all cloud deployments.
