3rd Line Cloud Engineer

Salary: Up to £50,000 dependant on experience plus bonus and other Veolia benefits

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Hybrid - Flexible Location

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide comprehensive support for all business units and manage AWS infrastructure services, including EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudFormation, and AWS Backup, ensuring maximum availability and value.
  • Resolve customer issues via ServiceNow, continuously learn new technologies, automate business processes with AWS tools and AI, and recommend infrastructure improvements for stability and innovation.
  • Provide insights on new technologies, create operational documentation, manage infrastructure costs, support contact centre services with Amazon Connect, conduct DR testing, reduce incidents through root cause analysis, and perform platform maintenance (patching, upgrades).
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and on-call arrangements as required.

What we're looking for:

Essential:

  • Previous proven experience working within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Excellent understanding of full AWS Cloud services and infrastructure, including CloudFormation templates, EC2s, Lambda functions, DynamoDB, RDS, AWS Backup, and Amazon Connect.
  • A competent knowledge of networking practices and principles for cloud services, including Direct Connect, VPNs, subnetting, routing, web application firewalls (WAFs), and VPCs.
  • Highly proficient in Scripting / Automation programming (specifically Python and/or PowerShell).
  • Essential experience using version control systems and repositories, specifically GitLab or GitHub.
  • Windows Server experience and with Linux administration experience is also highly advantageous.
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification (or actively working towards it).
  • Cloud provisioning and configuration technologies, with the ability to automate entire deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps concepts and aspects.
  • Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., AWS CloudWatch), as well as working with ITSM tools (ServiceNow) and ITIL processes.
  • Experience of Disaster Recovery processes, solutions, and invocations.
  • Experience working with in-house and third-party technical design teams to ensure appropriate solutions are designed and implemented.
  • Good customer-facing and diagnostic skills, with the ability to interpret business requirements to deliver valuable solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to agreed timescales, and effectively prioritise workload.

Desirable:

  • Proven experience working within an Azure cloud environment & Entra ID services (experience across GCP, Cisco, Checkpoint or Fortinet is also a bonus).
  • Proven experience supporting and configuring Amazon Connect.
  • Practical experience translating complex technical issues to non-technical staff and participating in multidisciplinary forums.
  • Experience designing and implementing fault-tolerant, auto-scaling, financially-efficient systems and services.
  • Previous experience with the creation and continued support of CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (SQL Server, MySQL, DynamoDB).
