Senior Azure Cloud Engineer

Public Sector Client | Strategy, Architecture & Innovation | Scotland-based, Hybrid

About the Role

We're working on behalf of a well-established public sector organisation to find a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join their Strategy, Architecture & Innovation team. This is a business delivering essential services to communities across Scotland, currently going through a significant cloud-first digital transformation. This is a hands-on engineering role at heart, with room to bring architectural thinking where it's useful. You'll help set up landing zones and subscriptions for major projects, support colleagues after handover, and play a key part in mentoring more junior members of the team as they develop their skills.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and configure secure, scalable Azure landing zones and subscriptions for new and ongoing projects
  • Own infrastructure delivery through Infrastructure as Code — no manual changes are made outside of this process
  • Apply networking and security best practice across the Azure estate
  • Work closely with project teams during setup, then provide ongoing support as needed once delivery is underway
  • Mentor and support junior colleagues and graduate placements, sharing knowledge and best practice
  • Collaborate with the wider architecture function to keep infrastructure aligned with broader cloud strategy
  • Contribute to the team's continuous improvement as we develop our cloud platform

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
