Job Role: Cloud Infrastructure Architect
Salary: £90,000 - £100,000 depending on experience + 15% bonus
Working location: Milton Keynes / London, Hybrid
Employment type: Full time, Permanent
Job Summary:
We’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Architect to design and guide the technology platforms that power NHBC. You’ll ensure our cloud and infrastructure services are secure, scalable, and built for the future, helping NHBC achieve its transformation goals while staying compliant, cost effective, and resilient.
Reporting to the Lead Architect, you’ll set technical standards across infrastructure, cloud, identity, and cyber security. Working closely with Information Security, Engineering, DevOps, and Operations teams, you’ll embed secure by design thinking and modern, automated infrastructure practices across the organisation.
What you’ll do
- Define and maintain NHBC’s cloud, security, and infrastructure architecture and standards
- Design cloud-native and hybrid solutions that balance performance, resilience, and cost
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to drive automation and infrastructure as code practices
- Ensure designs meet security, compliance, and operational expectations from the start
- Support lifecycle planning from platform upgrades to rationalisation
- Advise on security tooling, identity management, and threat mitigation
- Work with Information Security and Risk teams to meet regulatory and governance standards
- Contribute to cost optimised, sustainable cloud design
- Stay informed on emerging cloud, cyber, and infrastructure trends and recommend improvements

What you’ll bring
- Strong experience in cloud, infrastructure, and security architecture
- Proven success designing and governing secure, scalable hybrid environments
- Deep understanding of cloud platforms (Azure preferred), networking, and identity management
- Experience with automation tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Ansible
- Knowledge of secure by design and infrastructure as code principles
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex risks clearly
- Analytical, pragmatic mindset, balancing innovation, performance, and cost
- Familiarity with platform monitoring, lifecycle management, and licensing considerations
