Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

Role overview:

Design, automate, secure and support the cloud infrastructure and platform services used by ESCS. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer works across delivery and operations to provide reliable environments, repeatable deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management.

The role you will play:

  • Build and operate secure, reusable cloud foundations and environments.
  • Automate infrastructure delivery and support efficient developer workflows.
  • Embed reliability, observability, identity and security controls into the platform.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design, provision and maintain Azure and/or AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Implement network, compute, storage, identity, secrets and platform services.
  • Support landing-zone controls, subscription/account structures and environment separation.
  • Build and maintain deployment pipelines and platform automation.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, backup, recovery and capacity controls.
  • Support containers and orchestration platforms where required.
  • Apply patching, vulnerability remediation, configuration and change controls.
  • Produce architecture-aligned technical documentation, runbooks and support evidence.

Required skills and capabilities:

  • Azure and/or AWS infrastructure engineering
  • Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code
  • Cloud networking, DNS, load balancing and firewalls
  • Identity and access management
  • PowerShell, Python, Bash or equivalent automation
  • CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
  • Monitoring, observability and operational diagnostics
  • Containers and Kubernetes awareness or experience
  • Cloud security controls and policy enforcement
  • Backup, resilience, recovery and service management

Required experience:

  • Delivery and support of production cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience automating infrastructure and configuration.
  • Experience diagnosing complex platform, network or identity issues.
  • Experience producing supportable technical documentation and working within controlled change processes.

Pay Range:

£58,400.00-£74,900.00
