Cloud Network Engineer
We are seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to join our team. We are growing our Data and Services business, creating insights from satellites developed and operated in-house.
You will be part of a growing team responsible for the design, implementation and evolution of hybrid space–terrestrial telecommunications networks. This is essential for AAC Clyde Space to achieve its ambition to lead the creation of new space-based maritime communication services. The role requires technical expertise in the delivery of scalable, reliable, and secure data and communication services.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a passion for infrastructure quality and innovation, who has experience of enabling workflows and processes using cloud-based network functions. You should be comfortable working in an agile development environment. You should also be comfortable with infrastructure as code. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to creating innovative products within a fast-growing space technology company.
The role is based in either London or Glasgow where Hybrid Working is available. The nature of the role will require essential, occasional business travel (both local and global) plus the occasional ‘out of hours’ work that may be required to support customer and business activities.
Please note that in future, you may be required to complete a Basic Disclosure check (https://www.mygov.scot/apply-for-level-1-disclosure)
Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement virtual networking components including VPCs/VNets, subnets, routing tables, transit gateways, and VPN gateways
- Engineer and manage network security controls including firewall policies, security groups, NACLs, WAF rules, DDoS protection, and zero-trust network access (ZTNA) frameworks
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, to automate provisioning and configuration of network resources
- Support the integration of analytics and data services on top of the network infrastructure.
- Design and operate containerised networking for Kubernetes environments, including CNI plugins, network policies, ingress controllers, and private control planes
- Implement and manage SD-WAN and hybrid connectivity solutions bridging on-premises, cloud, and satellite/non-terrestrial network (NTN) environments
- Enforce network architecture standards, producing high-quality low-level designs from comprehensive high-level designs
- Automate deployments, reporting, and network administrative tasks using scripting (Python, Bash) and CI/CD pipelines
- Support the integration of analytics and data services on top of the network infrastructure
- Monitor and improve cloud and network environments, driving continuous service improvement through SLO/SLA ownership and post-incident reviews
- Collaborate closely with security, platform, and application engineering teams to deliver robust, well-integrated solutions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
