Cloud Operations Engineer

Location

Cheltenham (full-time onsite)

Salary

Up to £50,000 base + package + shift allowance (30% shift premium)

NOTE: Candidates for this opportunity must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.

This is an opportunity to join a secure cloud infrastructure team supporting critical national workloads in a highly controlled, cutting-edge environment.

You'll be part of a 24/7 operations function, gaining exposure to advanced, air-gapped cloud platforms and building hands-on expertise in modern infrastructure, Kubernetes, and automation tooling.

What you'll be doing

  • Acting as first-line support for secure cloud users, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a live production environment
  • Managing and progressing support tickets, ensuring clear diagnosis, resolution, or escalation
  • Supporting high-priority incidents using established runbooks and operational procedures
  • Developing deep technical knowledge of secure, air-gapped cloud platforms
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operational toil and enhance system reliability
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to identify bugs, failures, and optimisation opportunities

What we're looking for

  • 1+ year of commercial experience in a cloud, infrastructure, or support role
  • Strong foundation in Linux systems administration
  • Exposure to production support / live service environments
  • Hands-on experience or familiarity with:
    • Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
    • Kubernetes
    • Networking concepts and troubleshooting using Linux tools
  • A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving capability
  • Willingness to learn and develop within highly secure, non-standard cloud environments
