Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Newcastle (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Employment Type: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
Security Clearance: Must be SC Eligible

About the Role

Accenture is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join a growing team supporting the development and enhancement of modern cloud-based data platforms. This is an excellent opportunity for an early to mid-career cloud or data engineer looking to develop expertise in AWS, PySpark, platform engineering, and Lakehouse technologies within a collaborative and technology-driven environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers to build, test, and support core platform components while contributing to scalable cloud data solutions and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, configuration, and testing of Lakehouse Core Platform components.
  • Implement and maintain PySpark-based data transformation pipelines.
  • Contribute to shared platform libraries and reusable engineering components.
  • Support deployment and automation activities using Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Follow engineering standards, coding guidelines, and quality assurance processes.
  • Participate in peer reviews and collaborative development activities.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and stakeholders to deliver reliable cloud solutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across platform engineering and software delivery processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with PySpark for data transformation and processing.
  • Understanding of AWS cloud services, particularly data-focused services.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • AWS Glue
    • Amazon S3
    • Terraform
    • GitLab CI/CD
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices and structured delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working within cloud engineering, platform engineering, data engineering, or similar technical environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Active SC Clearance.
  • Experience working with Lakehouse architectures or modern data platforms.
  • Exposure to CI/CD best practices and DevOps principles.
  • Experience participating in code reviews and maintaining engineering standards.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery environments.
