We are an innovative and market leading software & services company based in Chorley serving clients in the utility sector ranging from new entrants to large existing suppliers. We deliver sophisticated software solutions and managed services in our Private and Public Cloud infrastructure, servicing both traditional and modern real-time, smart energy clients. To date, ESG has enabled a significant number of new entrant energy suppliers to enter the industry, and we manage several million customers on behalf of suppliers and metering companies. Clients include a host of well-known energy providers, both UK and overseas based.

We are looking for a proactive Cloud Support Engineer to join our team supporting both traditional datacentre infrastructure and cloud-native, containerised platforms. You will work across private datacentres and public cloud environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable delivery of our SaaS solutions. The role blends operational support, technical project delivery, continuous improvement, and innovative infrastructure engineering.

We operate a Hybrid working policy so you will be able to flex between working in the office and your home location to carry out this role. During your initial training period the need to be in office full time with other team members will be essential.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES

  • Apply knowledge of ESG's product suite to deploy and support customer hosted application environments
  • Monitor and maintain infrastructure to identify issues, meet uptime SLAs and resolve operational issues
  • System patching, application updates, vulnerability remediation and security hardening across hosted systems
  • Manage and maintain virtualised platforms, storage solutions, servers, network devices and associated productivity toolsets
  • Support customer systems and resolve incidents in line with agreed SLAs
  • Test, validate and document changes to ensure safe and controlled deployments, in line with change management processes
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of technical projects by implementing infrastructure changes, supporting new platform deployments and acting as a technical SME for wider cross-team deliveries
  • Work closely with vendors, service providers and other external partners to support ESG and its customers
  • Prepare clear technical documentation, system build records, project updates and status reports
  • Maintain strong understanding of current infrastructure technologies, cloud-native platforms and emerging industry trends
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across tooling, automation, process optimisation and platform evolution

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
