About The Role
FDM Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team on a contractual basis to work with our esteemed public sector client. This role offers a remote working arrangement, with the position based in Leeds or London, and initially spans four months with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance web applications leveraging the Cloudflare Developer Platform. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced developer passionate about edge computing and serverless architectures to make a significant impact on critical public sector projects.
The ideal candidate will possess strong full-stack development skills, with a focus on building globally distributed applications that are secure, resilient, and optimized for performance. The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, deploying serverless applications, and ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure. The position offers a chance to work on cutting-edge cloud-native technologies, including Cloudflare Workers, Pages, D1, KV, R2, Durable Objects, and associated services, contributing to the modernization of public sector digital services.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in delivering one or more production applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare.
- Deep expertise with Cloudflare Workers, edge computing concepts, and serverless architecture patterns.
- Hands-on experience implementing stateful applications using Durable Objects.
- Extensive experience working with Cloudflare D1, KV, and R2 data storage solutions.
- Strong understanding of Cloudflare's serverless ecosystem, including API development, deployment, and monitoring.
- Proficiency in debugging, troubleshooting, and monitoring applications across Cloudflare’s global network.
- Solid software engineering fundamentals, including proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, or other relevant programming languages.
- Experience designing and implementing distributed systems and microservices architectures.
- Good understanding of application security best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a remote team environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop full-stack web applications using Cloudflare Workers and Pages, ensuring high performance and scalability.
- Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs that operate efficiently at the edge, providing seamless data access and integration.
- Build and maintain frontend applications utilizing frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte.
- Design and implement data storage solutions using Cloudflare D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2, aligning with project requirements.
- Implement robust authentication, authorization, and security controls to protect applications and data.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows using Wrangler, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience across multiple global edge locations.
- Integrate AI capabilities into applications using Workers AI, Vectorize, and other relevant services where applicable.
- Monitor application health, troubleshoot issues, and perform incident management using Cloudflare’s observability tools.
