About The Role
FDM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team and work on a critical project within the public sector. This role is a contract position initially lasting four months, with the possibility of extension based on project requirements. The role is remote, with preferred locations in Leeds or London, offering flexibility to the right candidate. The successful applicant will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications leveraging the Cloudflare Developer Platform. This includes building serverless applications with Cloudflare Workers, Pages, D1, KV, R2, Durable Objects, and other cloud-native services. The ideal candidate will possess strong full-stack development expertise and experience in deploying high-performance, globally distributed applications, ensuring resilience, security, and optimal user experience across multiple regions.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering production applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare, with a deep understanding of edge computing concepts. Essential qualifications include expertise with Cloudflare Workers, Durable Objects, and other edge-native services such as D1, KV, and R2. A strong background in designing and implementing distributed systems and serverless architectures is required. Candidates should possess excellent debugging and monitoring skills, with experience deploying applications across Cloudflare’s global network. A solid foundation in software engineering principles, security best practices, and API development—both REST and GraphQL—is essential. Prior experience with front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte is highly desirable, along with familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using Wrangler and GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop full-stack web applications utilizing Cloudflare Workers and Pages to deliver scalable and performant solutions.
- Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs optimized for deployment on Cloudflare’s edge network, ensuring robust security controls such as authentication and authorization.
- Build and enhance frontend applications using modern frameworks like React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte to provide engaging user interfaces.
- Design and implement efficient data storage and retrieval solutions using Cloudflare D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2, aligning with project requirements.
- Implement comprehensive security measures, including authentication, authorization, and API security controls, to safeguard applications and data.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes using Wrangler and GitHub Actions to streamline development workflows.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience across global edge locations, ensuring high availability and low latency.
- Integrate artificial intelligence capabilities within applications using Workers AI, Vectorize, and related services where applicable.
- Monitor application health and troubleshoot issues in production environments utilizing Cloudflare’s observability and monitoring tools to maintain service quality.
About You
- You have successfully delivered one or more production applications hosted on Cloudflare, demonstrating practical experience with the platform.
- You possess in-depth expertise with Cloudflare Workers and a comprehensive understanding of edge computing architectures.
- You have hands-on experience implementing stateful applications using Durable Objects and managing data solutions with D1, KV, or R2.
- You demonstrate a strong understanding of Cloudflare’s serverless ecosystem, architecture patterns, and best practices for deployment and scaling.
- You are proficient in debugging, monitoring, and troubleshooting applications across Cloudflare’s global network, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- You have solid software engineering fundamentals, including coding, testing, and version control.
- You are experienced in designing distributed systems that are resilient, scalable, and secure.
- You understand application security principles and apply best practices to protect data and services from vulnerabilities.
