About The Role

FDM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloudflare Developer to join our team working within the public sector. This is a remote role based in Leeds or London, initially contracted for four months with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable web applications leveraging the Cloudflare Developer Platform. This role requires a deep understanding of serverless architectures, edge computing, and full-stack development, with a focus on creating high-performance, globally distributed applications. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in deploying serverless solutions using Cloudflare Workers, Pages, D1, KV, R2, Durable Objects, and related cloud-native services, ensuring optimal application performance, security, and resilience across multiple regions.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record of delivering production-grade applications primarily hosted on Cloudflare
  • Deep expertise with Cloudflare Workers and a solid understanding of edge computing concepts
  • Experience implementing stateful applications utilizing Durable Objects
  • Hands-on experience with D1, KV, and R2
  • Strong grasp of Cloudflare’s serverless ecosystem and architecture patterns
  • Ability to debug and monitor applications deployed across Cloudflare’s global network
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including proficiency in designing distributed systems and adhering to application security best practices
  • Familiarity with frontend frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte
  • Experience creating CI/CD pipelines using tools like Wrangler and GitHub Actions

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop full-stack web applications utilizing Cloudflare Workers and Pages to deliver scalable and performant solutions.
  • Create secure REST and GraphQL APIs that operate efficiently on Cloudflare’s edge network, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Build and optimize frontend applications using modern frameworks such as React, Next.js, Vue, Astro, or Svelte to enhance user experience.
  • Design and implement data storage solutions leveraging D1, KV, Durable Objects, and R2, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across distributed environments.
  • Implement robust authentication, authorization, and API security controls to safeguard applications and user data.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment workflows utilizing Wrangler, GitHub Actions, and other relevant tools to streamline development processes.
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, and resilience by monitoring, troubleshooting, and fine-tuning deployments across global edge locations.
  • Integrate emerging AI capabilities using Workers AI, Vectorize, and related services to enhance application functionalities where appropriate.
  • Utilize Cloudflare observability tools to monitor application health, diagnose issues, and implement improvements proactively.
