Position: Cluster Manager (Area Manager)

Location

Frederick W Paine Funeral Directors, based in Kingston upon Thames, covering branches across South West London including Surbiton, New Malden, Sutton, Morden, Twickenham and Hampton Hill

Job Type

Full-Time, permanent

Salary

£60,000 - £65,000 per annum + £4500 car allowance + up to 10% annual bonus

About the Role

Be there when families need you most, and lead the teams who make it happen

As Cluster Manager, you’ll lead the Frederick W Paine Funeral Directors area: 12 branches and a care centre, carrying out around 1,200 funerals a year. You’ll lead the Funeral Directors and Senior Funeral Directors across the cluster, and through them every colleague in your branches.

When someone dies, families need to know they can rely on us completely. Your job is to make sure every team delivers that, every day, while building strong, successful local businesses.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and develop your teams, through recruitment, coaching, 1:1s and appraisals
  • Drive operational excellence, owning care, compliance and presentation standards, and keeping every branch audit-ready
  • Grow market share and local reputation, with your own local marketing plan and a strong community presence
  • Deliver commercial success, owning revenue, cost and funeral plan targets
  • Set the standard for professionalism, empathy and integrity

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience managing multiple sites or branches in a customer-facing, service-led environment
  • Experience leading other managers, not just front-line teams
  • A track record of hitting revenue, cost and sales targets, and confidence reading a P&L
  • A good understanding of operational and regulatory standards
  • A full UK driving licence, and flexibility to work some evenings, weekends and on-call

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
