Critical Manufacturing (CMF) MES Support Engineer

Contract: 6 Months
Location: Remote
IR35 Status: Inside IR35

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Critical Manufacturing (CMF) MES Support Engineer to provide operational support for a business-critical Manufacturing Execution System within a regulated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining production continuity through incident management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and rapid resolution of system issues. Software development will be limited to small fixes and enhancements required to restore service and prevent recurring problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for the Critical Manufacturing MES platform.
  • Manage incidents through to resolution, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application, workflow, configuration, integration, and database-related issues.
  • Analyse logs, system traces, and SQL data to identify root causes.
  • Implement workarounds where required to maintain operational continuity.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, IT teams, and third-party vendors to restore service quickly.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support integrations between CMF, SAP, and connected shop-floor systems.
  • Validate system functionality following fixes, patches, and deployments.
  • Maintain clear documentation of incidents, resolutions, and system changes.

  • Strong recent hands-on experience supporting Critical Manufacturing MES in a live manufacturing environment.
  • Proven background in production support and incident management for business-critical applications.
  • Solid understanding of CMF architecture, workflows, configurations, and deployment concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, database, and integration layers.
  • Practical SQL experience, including log and trace analysis.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and MES operations within regulated (GxP) environments.
  • Ability to work independently and drive issues through to resolution with minimal onboarding.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management experience.
