CMM Programmer / Inspector
Location: Shenstone, Lichfield
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + strong pension, healthcare & other benefits (12pm finish Fridays)
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced CMM Programmer / Inspector to join the Goods Inwards Inspection Laboratory at a specialist engineering and manufacturing business based in Shenstone.
This is a hands-on technical role with an approximately 50/50 split between CMM programming and inspection, working with intricate, high-precision components.
This is not a high-volume, repetitive inspection environment. You will be working with technically complex, precision-engineered components where accurate CMM programming, dimensional measurement and interpretation of engineering drawings are critical.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and modify CMM inspection programmes using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS
- Carry out detailed dimensional inspection of intricate, precision-engineered components and sub-assemblies
- Inspect components against complex engineering drawings, specifications and quality requirements
- Undertake First Article Inspection (FAI) activities
- Carry out goods-inwards inspection of precision components
- Perform dimensional audits of assembled engines prior to customer shipment
- Analyse CMM inspection results and identify dimensional or quality issues
- Produce accurate inspection reports and maintain quality records
- Work closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to investigate and resolve inspection issues
- Support the development and improvement of CMM programmes and inspection methods
- Ensure all inspection activity is completed accurately and in accordance with internal quality procedures

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Proven experience in a CMM programming and inspection role
- Hands-on experience programming Mitutoyo CMMs using MCOSMOS - essential
- Experience inspecting complex, intricate or high-precision components
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Good understanding of dimensional measurement and inspection techniques
- Experience with First Article Inspection
- Knowledge of GD&T / geometric tolerancing
- Experience working within a precision engineering or similarly technically demanding manufacturing environment

- Aerospace, defence, automotive, motorsport or other high-precision engineering experience
- Experience inspecting complex machined components and assemblies
- Experience working with tight dimensional tolerances
- Relevant metrology or inspection qualifications
