CNC Engineering Estimator / Programmer – Thomas Broadbent, Huddersfield
For over 160 years, we’ve been pushing the boundaries of engineering through the design and manufacture of specialist industrial centrifuges.
We currently have a permanent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Estimator Programmer with experience estimating production work within a machining or heavy engineering manufacturing environment.
The Opportunity
- Take ownership of the estimating process, reviewing drawings and specifications to determine the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing route
- Prepare accurate production estimates covering machining, materials, tooling, and subcontract processes
- Develop and maintain CNC programmes using Edgecam, with the opportunity to further develop your programming capability through to 5-axis machining on our larger machine tools
- Work closely with Engineering and Production to improve machining strategies, processes, and tooling, ensuring work is planned and programmed efficiently
- Continuously look for opportunities to improve cost, cycle time, quality, and overall manufacturing efficiency

What we’re looking for
- Experience in production estimating within machining, manufacturing, or heavy engineering
- Strong understanding of machining processes and what is required to manufacture components efficiently and cost-effectively
- CNC programming experience, ideally with Edgecam and offline programming.
- Experience with Siemens, FANUC, and/or Heidenhain controls would be beneficial.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
- A practical, proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of the process and determine what needs to be done to get the job manufactured efficiently.
- We can train and develop the right person on the programming side, including progressing towards programming our larger and more complex 5-axis machines.
