Silcoms is looking for an experienced CNC Vertical Borer or CNC VTL Machinist to join our Precision Machining team in Bolton.

The Role
As a CNC Vertical Borer / CNC VTL Machinist, you will set, program, and operate CNC Vertical Boring Machines to manufacture precision aerospace components.
You will work from engineering drawings, CNC programs, and technical specifications, ensuring every component meets strict aerospace quality and dimensional standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Set, program, and operate CNC Vertical Boring Machines and CNC VTL equipment.
- Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Select suitable tooling, fixtures, cutting speeds, and feeds.
- Apply CNC offsets and edit programs when required.
- Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment.
- Complete job cards, inspection records, and process documentation.
- Diagnose tooling, dimensional, and CNC programming issues.
- Work with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to improve processes.
- Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a clean 5S working area.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience setting and operating CNC machinery, ideally CNC Vertical Borers or CNC VTL machines.
- CNC programming or programme-editing experience.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
- Experience manufacturing precision-engineered components.
- Knowledge of inspection methods and precision measuring equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude towards quality, safety, and teamwork.
- Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, oil and gas, or another highly regulated precision engineering environment would be beneficial.
