About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and monitor CNC machining centres to manufacture components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Carry out 5-axis machining operations safely and efficiently.
- Perform in-process inspection of components to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Complete associated inspection records, production documentation, and quality paperwork accurately.
- Identify and troubleshoot machining or production issues, escalating where necessary.
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas to a high standard.
- Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures, reporting any hazards or non-conformances.
- Work closely with colleagues and other departments to meet production targets and customer requirements.
- Support and share knowledge with less experienced team members where required.
Skills & Qualifications
- Vocational training, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience in CNC machining.
- Essential: Proven experience operating and setting 5-axis CNC machining centres.
- Desirable: Experience with Mazak 5-axis machining centres and Mazatrol controls.
- Comfortable carrying out in-process inspection and completing associated quality documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and measurement data.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
- Experience using measuring equipment and quality control processes.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively in a manufacturing environment while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
