Role Description

The CNC Machinist/Programmer role is a full-time, on-site position located in Newbury. The role involves setting up, programming (hyperMILL), and operating CNC machines (DMG'S & HURCO'S) to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Adjusting machine parameters
  • Monitoring machining operations
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment
  • Inspecting finished parts for accuracy and quality

  • Maintaining detailed production and quality records
  • Collaborating with engineers and production team members to optimize processes and meet project deadlines

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in machine operation and general machining, with experience working on CNC equipment, ideally DMG'S and HURCO'S
  • Proficiency in milling operations and related machining techniques for precision components
  • Knowledge of quality control practices, including measurement, inspection, and documentation of parts
  • Experience in programming using hyperMILL or similar software
  • Hands-on experience working with industrial machinery, including setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and CNC programs
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and housekeeping in the workshop
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or mechanical engineering environment; CNC programming experience is highly beneficial
  • Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in machining, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline
