PSR Plastics is a family-run plastic machining company based in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire. Established in 1989, the company manufactures components from a range of engineering plastics, including UHMWPE, Nylon, Acetal, PTFE, and Polycarbonate. PSR Plastics provides CNC turning, milling, routing, cutting, prototyping, assembly, and on-site evaluation, supported by CAD/CAM to work from customer drawings or assist with design. The team focuses on understanding customer needs, offering material selection advice and efficient turnaround. Known for reliability, quality, and continuous investment in people and capacity, PSR Plastics is a recognized name in the engineering plastic components market.

Role Description:

  • Programming, setting and operating our CNC Mills and Lathes. Ideally versed in the AlphaCam CAD/CAM package. Training and support from our staff and 3rd party courses are available where necessary.
  • Setting tools, setting offsets and producing parts to tight tolerances from customer drawings and prototypes. This may involve small batch work to large volume orders
  • Gaining a knowledge of stock, being responsible for maintaining records of parts, tolerances, and quality expectations.
  • Minimise cycle times by determining the most efficient machining process.
  • Follow guidelines to ensure that parts are produced correctly, efficiently and to the quality expected.
  • General machine maintenance, fault identification, and action plans to ensure production capacity is maintained through fault finding exercises and general communication.
  • Workshop maintenance and cleanliness ensuring there is a safe working area at all times.
  • Packaging, wrapping and readying parts for dispatch.

The Candidate:

  • Must have a drive and ambition to work within the Engineering and Manufacturing sector.
  • Must be willing to learn and develop their skill base.
  • Will have to work as part of a small team.
  • Knowledge of the AlphaCamCAD/CAM package would be desirable, but any Cad/Cam software experience would be beneficial.
  • Experience of machining industrial plastics would be an advantage but is not essential
  • To work on their own initiative with support from the surrounding staff, feeding that support back into the team.
  • A general can do attitude. An individual who can hit the ground running with a desire and willingness to learn, and to be open to change.
  • A desire to get the job done accurately and efficiently.
