The Opportunity – CNC Machinist (Machine Shop)
BSC Filters is looking for a skilled CNC Machinist to join our ’expert, collaborative, and results-driven manufacturing team. You’ll play a pivotal role in producing high-quality RF filters for a global client base.
Role Synopsis:
- Contribute to daily production targets, maintaining BSC Filters’ reputation for precision engineering.
- Operate state-of-the-art Heidenhain CNC machines to cut and shape metals (e.g., aluminium, brass, copper).
- Support machine maintenance, troubleshooting issues and achieving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Programme and operate CNC machines in alignment with technical drawings and manufacturing procedures.
- Conduct pre-start and maintenance checks, ensuring equipment is operational and fault-free.
- Diagnose mechanical/electronic faults, troubleshoot issues and apply solutions.
- Inspect machined parts both in-process and post-production to guarantee quality compliance.
- Set up and calibrate tools, tooling aids, work-holding and measurement instrumentation.
- Keep work areas clean, well-organised, and safety-compliant per ISO/accreditation standards.
- Document work progress and update production databases accurately.
Desired Skills & Qualifications
✅ Credible experience in a CNC Machining apprenticeship or relevant engineering training. ✅ On-the-job workshop experience, preferably in:
- Metalworking and machine assembly
- Part inspection to defect-free tolerances
- Machine diagnostics & problem-solving ✅ Attention to detail with strong following-instructions skills (blueprints, technical manuals, work instructions). ✅ Ability to collaborate effectively in a team while working independently. ✅ Hands-on adaptability when improving processes and overcoming machine/logistical challenges.

Shift & Working Plan
Working hours: Monday – Friday (shift pattern, details to be discussed at hire). Location: Onsite at BSC Filters (Dover, UK).
