JOB – CNC Programmer/Operator

LOCATION – Farnborough, Hampshire

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – Competitive, dependent on experience

My client is an established engineering and manufacturing business supplying high-precision components to clients across the aerospace and automotive industries. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Programmer, Setter, Operator to join their production team at their Farnborough facility.

Working within the Turning department, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC professional to work with modern machinery, including CNC and Mazak machines, producing precision components to exacting standards. The role will involve programming, setting and operating machinery, as well as preparing tooling and materials for upcoming production runs.

The Programmer, Setter, Operator will ideally have:

  • Engineering qualification or relevant technical qualification
  • 3–5+ years' experience in a similar CNC machining, turning or manufacturing role
  • Strong experience programming, setting and operating CNC turning/milling machines
  • Experience working with Mazak machinery would be highly advantageous
  • Ability to read and understand CNC programmes and engineering drawings
  • Confident using micrometres, verniers and other precision measuring equipment
  • Good mathematical and technical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Experience carrying out in-process inspection and checking components against drawings and specifications
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving technical issues
  • Ability to work efficiently to production targets and deadlines
  • A reliable, adaptable and team-focused approach to manufacturing

The Programmer, Setter, Operator role will involve:

  • Programming, setting and operating CNC turning and milling machinery to manufacture precision components.
  • Preparing materials, tooling and machine settings for upcoming jobs and completing machine changeovers within required timeframes.
  • Reading engineering drawings and CNC programmes, carrying out in-process inspections and using precision measuring equipment to ensure components meet specification.
  • Maintaining accurate production and work order records while working in accordance with company quality, health and safety and manufacturing procedures.
  • Using initiative to identify and resolve production or technical issues, escalating problems where required and supporting colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the department.
