CNC Setter / Operator (Lathes)

£32,000 - £38,000 (OTE £40,000+) + Company Benefits + Overtime + Days Based + Early Friday Finish

Redditch

Are you a CNC Setter / Operator looking to work for a well-established company with plenty of overtime and an early finish on a Friday?

Established in the early 1990s, this specialist precision engineering manufacturer designs and manufactures bespoke gears, sprockets, splines, pulleys and gearbox components for customers across a wide range of industries. Specialising in one-off, prototype and production work, the company combines CNC machining, gear cutting and reverse engineering to deliver high-quality transmission components for OEM, maintenance and replacement applications.

In this permanent days-based role, you'll set and operate CNC lathes to manufacture high-precision gears and transmission components from engineering drawings. Working on a mix of one-off, prototype and production work, you'll ensure components meet strict quality standards while maintaining efficient production. The role is Monday to Thursday, 8:00am-5:00pm and Friday, 8:00am-1:00pm, with regular overtime available.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
