We are a well-established precision engineering company specializing in the manufacture and reconditioning of high-quality cutting tools for industries including aerospace, automotive, and general machining.
Role Overview
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC machinist/Tool Cutter Grinder with strong CNC programming and setup experience to join our team in Braintree.
As a CNC machinist/Tool Cutter Grinder, you will be responsible for setting, operating, and programming multi-axis CNC grinding machines. You will use specialized software to manufacture and regrind a wide range of precision cutting tools, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- CNC Programming: Program, edit, and optimize machine paths using manufacturer software (such as Anca, iGrind, or similar).
- Machine Setup: Set up, calibrate, and operate complex CNC tool and cutter grinding machines.
- Tool Manufacturing: Manufacture and regrind drills, end mills, reamers, form tools, and custom cutting tools.
- Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret complex technical engineering drawings and tooling specifications.
- Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections using precision tools like micrometers, verniers, and optical measuring systems.
- Maintenance: Perform routine CNC machine maintenance, wheel dressing, and maintain a safe workspace.

Requirements
- CNC Expertise: Proven, hands-on experience setting, operating, and programming 5-axis CNC machines / CNC grinding machines (Full training will be given).
- Tooling Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of carbide and HSS cutting tools, including tool geometries.
- Inspection Skills: Ability to read technical drawings and confidently use precision measurement equipment.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, and a reliable work attitude.

Desirable Skills
- Direct, proficient experience with CNC tool grinders or CNC machines.
- Formal training in CNC programming or precision engineering.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced aerospace or automotive precision engineering environment.
Full training will be given to the right applicant.
