CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator
Newcastle-under-Lyme | Permanent Position | 4-Day Working Week
About the Company
Contek Recruitment is representing a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, who are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their busy and growing Turning Department. This company specializes in the manufacture of high-precision components for various demanding industries. They have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and technical excellence, continually investing in their people and manufacturing capabilities.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines to produce high-quality precision components in line with customer specifications and engineering drawings.
- This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting, and operating CNC turning machines with Fanuc controls (or similar G-code systems).
- Manufacturing precision components to tight tolerances.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Selecting appropriate tooling and machining strategies.
- Performing first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Making tooling and offset adjustments as required.
- Ensuring components meet quality and production requirements.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized working environment.
- Supporting continuous improvement activities within the department.
- Working closely with colleagues across production and quality teams.

Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants should possess:
- Proven experience as a CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator with Fanuc control knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of CNC turning processes and machining techniques.
- Experience programming and setting CNC lathes independently.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
- Experience producing precision components to tight tolerances.
- Good understanding of cutting tools, materials, and machining parameters.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-focused approach.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

Experience within a precision engineering or subcontract machining environment would be advantageous.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday
- 37 basic contracted hours per week
- Enjoy a genuine three-day weekend every week
Overtime Available
Regular overtime opportunities are available on:
- Friday
- Saturday
- Sunday
Enhanced overtime rates include:
- Time & One-Third
- Time & One-Half
- Double Time
