About The Role

A CNC Turner is required for a precision engineering operation in Dudley, offering £15.50 to £20 per hour on a full-time, permanent basis. Working hours are 8am to 4.30pm, with overtime available. This hands-on role involves setting and programming CNC turning machines to produce large, complex components to demanding tolerances. The successful candidate will take ownership of work from initial set-up through to final inspection, using engineering drawings and specifications. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate tooling and work-holding, conducting in-process checks, and working independently. Prior experience in high-precision heavy engineering is essential for this position.

The Role

This is a hands-on, high-precision machining position. The successful candidate will be expected to work confidently and independently, taking full ownership of their components from initial set-up through to final inspection.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Setting and programming your own CNC turning machines and components.
  • Producing large, complex components to demanding tolerances.
  • Carrying out your own pre-inspection and in-process checks.
  • Working from engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Selecting appropriate tooling, work-holding, and machining strategies.
  • Ensuring components meet the required dimensional and quality standards.
  • Working safely and confidently with large and heavy components.
  • Working unsupervised and taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized working environment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven CNC Turning experience.
  • Experience working within a heavy engineering/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience setting and programming your own work.
  • Experience with Fanuc controls.
  • Strong engineering drawing interpretation skills.
  • Experience working to high-precision tolerances.
  • Experience carrying out your own inspection and quality checks.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and unsupervised.
  • Experience with heavy slinging, lifting, and crane handling.
  • A strong understanding of workshop safety and the safe handling of large components.
