Location: South Durham
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum DOE + Overtime
Shifts: Various shift patterns available
Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing organisation in the precision engineering sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced CNC Turner to join their dynamic engineering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about producing high-quality precision components.
The Role
As a CNC Turner, the successful candidate will be integral to manufacturing high-precision components from a variety of metal materials. With a focus on quality and efficiency, this role involves programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes, as well as interpreting engineering drawings to meet tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme, set, and operate CNC turning machines.
- Manufacture components based on engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Produce precision machined metal parts to tight tolerances.
- Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Conduct first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Edit and optimise CNC programmes for improved quality and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve programming and machining issues.
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards in all work.
- Maintain a clean and organised working environment.

Essential Requirements
- Experienced CNC Turner or Apprentice-Trained Engineer.
- Proven experience in programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes.
- Capability to manufacture precision components from metal materials.
- Experience in producing parts to extremely tight tolerances.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Competent with precision measuring equipment including micrometres, verniers, and bore gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Fanuc, Mazatrol or similar controls.
- Background in a precision engineering manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with machining a variety of materials.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
