CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter / Operator

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

Location: On-site

Hours: Full-time Mon - Friday (8am-5pm)

A specialist engineering business is looking for an experienced CNC Turner / Programmer / Setter / Operator to join its highly skilled workshop team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Turner who enjoys varied, technically challenging work and takes pride in producing high-quality precision components.

The Role

You will be responsible for the complete machining process, from programming and setting through to operation and inspection.

Working with a 3-axis CNC lathe with live tooling, you will produce one-off and small-batch components to demanding specifications and tolerances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program, set and operate 3-axis CNC lathes with live tooling.
  • Programme both online and offline using FANUC controls.
  • Interpret detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Select tooling, work holding, speeds and feeds.
  • Set tools, offsets and work coordinates.
  • Produce components to tight tolerances and high-quality finishes.
  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring equipment.
  • Make programme and tooling adjustments where required.
  • Work with a range of engineering materials including steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and machine/tooling care.
  • Work closely with engineers and workshop colleagues to resolve manufacturing challenges.

About You

The successful candidate will have proven experience as a CNC Turner, Programmer, Setter and Operator, with a strong understanding of CNC turning and precision machining.

Essential

  • Proven CNC turning experience.
  • Experience with 3-axis lathes incorporating live tooling.
  • Strong online and offline FANUC programming experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working to tight engineering tolerances.
  • Strong knowledge of tooling, cutting speeds and feeds.
  • Competent with precision measuring equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Desirable

  • SolidWorks experience.
  • CAMWorks or Fusion experience.
  • Background in automotive, motorsport, aerospace or specialist engineering.
  • Experience in low-volume, high-value manufacturing.
  • Engineering apprenticeship or relevant technical qualification.
